Apply for an amendment to the joint licence

Do you already hold a Community licence? If certain details change, you must notify the relevant authority.

You must notify the relevant authority of the following changes, which will then amend the collective licence and its certified copies accordingly:

  • Change of owner
  • Change of managing director
  • Change of transport manager
  • Change of registered office

In the event of a change, the date of issue and the period of validity remain unchanged.

If the legal form of your company changes, you must reapply for the Community licence.

Note regarding a road haulage licence that is still valid:
The procedure outlined above applies mutatis mutandis to road haulage licences for commercial domestic transport that are still valid and to their duplicates. If a new application is required, a Community licence must be applied for in accordance with the new legislation.

Procedure

  • You must notify the transport authority responsible for your place of business of the change.
  • If a change to the Community licence is required, you must submit the original and certified copies
  • The Community licence will be amended or updated upon provision of evidence of the relevant changes.
  • You must submit the application in writing to the licensing authority at for your place of residence or, where offered by the competent authority, as an online application.

In the event of changes to the company’s management:

  • A copy of the identity card or passport
  • where applicable, a copy of proof of professional competence, for example:
    • Certificate from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) confirming that the IHK specialist examination has been passed
    • an equivalent recognised final examination
    • Proof of at least ten years’ experience in a managerial role within a road haulage company
  • for employees: proof of employment (employment contract)
  • Certificate of good conduct for submission to a public authority (document type O)
  • Extract from the Central Trade Register for submission to a public authority (document type 9)
    • Purpose: “Licence to operate a road haulage business”
  • Information from the Driver Fitness Register

In the event of a change of address

  • Details of the new branch office

Provided the documents are complete, your application will be processed promptly.

Miscellaneous

If you cease trading as a transport operator, you must return the Community licence, together with all certified copies, to the licensing authority without delay.
